Mr. Cleery is a patient who came to the ER when he had a stroke.
History[]
Mr. Cleery came into the ER with his wife. She said he was speaking gibberish and was confused that she didn't understand him. Rollie Guthrie explained to her that he had expressive aphasia, a stroke symptom. He wanted to use TPA, but had to confirm there was no bleeding in the brain yet. Once they confirmed he was eligible for TPA, Rollie explained that only about 7% of patients experienced the miracle of symptom reversal with TPA. Another 7% would experience catastrophic bleeding and they had no way of knowing until they did it which he would be. If they chose to do nothing, his condition would remain unchanged or would get worse. The Cleerys decided to go ahead with the TPA and Mr. Cleery was able to speak normally.
